I was privileged to witness one of the greatest/up and coming new group called Keys N Krates last night at The Commonwealth Lounge in Fullerton, California. I recently discovered this group this past summer after reading about them at some random blog and was bummed that I had just missed their show in San Diego. Well this time around I was sure to not miss them. Especially when it was a FREE show? Big ups to my boy Snuks for finding this one!

Keys N Krates: They’re a trio group, Jr. Flo on the turntables, Matisse on keyboards, and Tune on drums, based from Toronto Canada that performs live remixes. Hands down one of the greatest performances I’ve ever witnessed. They play live remixes from hip-hop to electro and old school. Guaranteed to not disappoint you. They’ll actually be in San Diego this Saturday (11/21) at Onyx/Thin. Be sure to check em out at their website and show the support! Mos Def had a performance a last month and this is what it was like.

Brand new song by Wale just leaked out! It’s his 3rd single and will be in his upcoming debut album Attention: Deficit which comes out November 10th via Allido/Interscope (the second push back because of Wale’s decision to tour with Jay-Z, N.E.R.D. and J. Cole). The song features Pharrell Williams which the Neptunes produced.

Wale has another new single that just came out and this time it features Yael Naim…well kinda. Really it’s just a very slowed down tempo of her song “New Soul”. It took me a while to figure out where I first heard that song from. It finally hit me after a few plays. It was featured in Apples MacBook Air commercial a few years back.

Ladies and gentlemen….I introduce to you…..THE NAGGUH FUNKY MIX! This was the very first mix tape I ever recorded live (along side with DJ Retro & Lucky Charms). This thing was recorded on a mini disc recorder LOL!!! Mind you this was Pre-Serato! Yes, everything was on vinyl!! You can hear the crackles, the off beat tempos, the mismatched volumes/bass, and the whack ass scratching! You ain’t a real DJ if you didn’t learn on vinyl. I’m not hating, I’m just saying. Ya hurrrrrrd!?

So Will.I.Am……or Zuper Blahq I mean……has a new song out alongside with Steve Aoki. Not sure if I really like this song as much as the first song he came out with (Here We Go Now). It’s definitely a “House” song but not really my cup of tea guess you can say. Maybe after a couple plays it’ll grow on me.

P.S. I was able to meet Mr. Will.I.Am. in Vegas last month, but really didn’t acknowledge my friends and I until we yelled out “Zuper Blahq!!”. He actually took the time to say hello and snap a picture. Nice guy!

Jay Z has another album coming out soon called “The Blue Print 3″. There are a few tracks that already leaked out in the good ol internet! I was listening to “Thank You” and he name drops Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao in this track saying: “Men keep poppin’ up. Face keep poppin’ up. Auto tune, I’m just watching Pacquiao box em up”. These guys (Teriyaki Boyz) are about come out with an album under Pharrell’s label Star Trak Entertainment. They’ve been doing work with Artists such as Daft Punk, Mark Ronson, Pharrell Williams and most recently Kanye West. One of their tracks features Kanye called Teriya-KING. In the past, Daft Punk produced their previous track “Heartbreaker” which I thought was pretty catchy…..for not understanding a lick of Japanese that is. Anyway, I can’t wait to hear what both DP and TB have in stored for us.

Ps. My boy Doan is the biggest fan of Teriyaki Boyz and his favorite song is this! ====> Tokyo Drift! I personally like “Baggy Pants” produced by Just Blaze. Shit hits hard!!

David Guetta has yet another sure fire jam that he just released! This time it’s featuring Kid Cudi! Shit is pretty fresh I think. Be sure to check out his website also. He has a sound board where you can record your own remix of his previous hit “Sexy Bitch” featuring Akon. Pretty dope. Similar to the Daft Punk’s sound board where you can manipulate the lyrics into your own remix.
